"Peltier Not Pipelines" Action Camp is hosted by Sabal Trail Resistance (STR) and the Campaign to Fight Toxic Prisons (FTP)

Background:
American Indian Movement (AIM) activist Leonard Peltier has been in prison over 40 years as the result of an incident in which he was framed for shooting FBI agents in 1975. This shoot-out occurred amidst tension following the Wounded Knee stand-off on Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota, which began February 27, 1973. Peltier is currently held in Coleman federal prison, Florida, and the Sabal Trail pipeline activity is occurring several miles from the facility. Last month, the Obama Administration denied him clemency, potentially leaving him to die in prison. Days later, the Trump Administration declared a pipeline free-for-all across the same Lakota territories Peltier was fighting for.

Feb 25 - trainings, discussions (evening talk by organizer with International Indigenous Youth Council of Standing Rock, and possibly representatives of the Red Warrior Society)

Trainers will be offering a "training menu" so that folks can choose what direct action skills would be most helpful, this includes:
- soft blockades
- technical blockades
- media/talking points
- intro to know your rights
- history of nonviolence/civil disobedience
- direct action 101
- action roles
- police liaison
- deescalation

This will be an intensive 2-days of trainings, put into use in the following days. Please come prepared to focus. Bring your own camping gear, snack food and water. Some meals will be provided. But this is a primitive campsite with no amenities.

We can accommodate approx. 40 people and we will let you know if/when we reach capacity. If you are part of a larger group, please consider sending 1 or 2 reps from your group.

There is also an option of providing for your own sleeping accommodations. The closest town is Clermont, FL.

The actions on Sunday and Monday are open to all.

About the trainers and speakers:

Georgia works in the environmental justice movement with a focus on the use of non-violent direct action as a tactic for change. Her work is deeply rooted in the understanding that the fight for justice necessarily includes solidarity with every fight for justice, and that exploring the intersections of oppression is a necessary part of dismantling it. She is currently based out of Oakland and works with Greenpeace's Action Team. Georgia is a direct action trainer for Greenpeace, Ruckus, and a number of community groups throughout the country that focus on environmental and social justice.

Harmony Lambert (Chumash Nation) was raised in Northern California and currently works for Greenpeace USA in Oakland, California. She is part of the Indigenous Peoples Power Project (IP3), as well as a member of the Ruckus Society. Her work centers on indigenous sovereignty and rights, and their intersection with environmentalism. She is a direct action trainer for Greenpeace, as well as other networks.

Eryn Wise will be speaking on Saturday evening. She is an Organizer with Honor the Earth, and the Media Coordinator for Sacred Stone Camp and the International Indigenous Youth Council. She is Jicarilla Apache and Laguna Pueblo, currently living in Minneapolis, MN fighting Line 3 while continuing to support the #NoDAPL campaign. Her work is done in homage to her foremothers and ancestors. She is a human being, just like you.
