2 | It's said it takes 21-days to form a habit. We're inviting all members of this Facebook Group to go 7-days further to start the "habit" of shifting their consciousness toward anti-racism and begin interrupting and disrupting systemic racism at the personal, interpersonal, and structural levels. These resources and actions are loosely arranged in a suggested, intentional order but you may follow or supplement along the way. Be vigilant with yourself. Personal accountability is of the utmost importance. If you have any questions--reach out to the administrators of the Facebook Group! We're here for you. Inspiration for this framework from Layla Saad's book "Me and White Supremacy" and the Instagram project of the same name and YWCA of Cleveland. This framework was created in June 2020 and launched June 8 specifically for members of the Facebook Group "White People Working in U.S. Theatre Talking About Racism" [https://www.facebook.com/groups/862156953852845/]. We warmly welcome you to join that community, whose intention is to be a resource-sharing and action hub for white people working in the theatre who are committed to interrupting and dismantling systemic racism and anti-blackness and advancing anti-racism in their personal and professional lives. If you want to use this framework in your workplace, home, and community--go for it! You can download, copy, or print it. At the same time: we strongly urge you to consider using it with Layla Saad's book, the YWCA's 21-day challenge, or another source established by BIPOC individual(s). THANK YOU!
3 | A brief note about the actions which involve money: We recognize that at this specific moment in time financial actions may not be able to be acted on as robustly or at all. We invite you to give what you can knowing any amount is truly a gift. We invite you to consider how you can engage in the spirit of each action instead. We invite you to research wealth inequality and plan for future financial actions (the net worth of a white household or family is around ten times as much as that of a black family; tracking and comparing the median net worths of white and black households over the past thirty years, white households' net worth far exceeded that of black households through recessions https://www.brookings.edu/blog/up-front/2020/02/27/examining-the-black-white-wealth-gap/).
